Baby Time Capsule

I know, sounds totally insane right?  Who in the world wants a goat for Christmas?

“With all the money donated to help fight famine around the world, with all the grandiose plans conceived to conquer poverty, sometimes all it takes to save a child is a goat.”— 60 Minutes, CBS News Magazine Program

Give the Gift of a GoatI received a holiday magazine in the mail today and really couldn’t believe how giving the gift of a goat could cause such great wealth for families around the world.  Giving the gift of a goat to a family can send children to school, offer milk for that family and best of all, give the family a means of income.  If the goat has kids, the family can sell the kids and produce enough income to buy their children clothes and send them to school!

So if you’re looking for a gift to give someone this year, purchase a goat in their honor.  It’s the gift that will give a family hope, income and nourishment.  It’s not a gift that will be oohed and ahed over and then left in a drawer or tossed aside.  It’s the gift that will give life and opportunity to a family.

So while you are sitting on the floor unwrapping the crazy insane amount of gifts Santa brought for the children this year that will surely all make their way into a toy box or the basement rather quickly, think, their is a child sharing the same excitement after receiving a goat.  And the goat will never make it’s way into a toy box.  It will be nourished and loved forever.  You are purchasing not only a goat, but Hope!

It’s a magical thing that you can do for someone else.  So down to the question you probably have in your mind, how much does a freaking goat cost?  I cannot afford to buy a goat.  Actually the cost is nominal.  For $120 or a shared cost of $10, meaning you share the cost of a goat with other sponsors, you can supply a family with income and nourishment!

For more information, I encourage you to visit Heifer International.  There are some very touching stories about how much a goat has helped families!  And if you don’t particularly love goats, there are many other animals you can sponsor, so pick your favorite!

Happy Holiday Giving This Year!
