Midwest Baby Fest Issues A Refund
Last week a wrote a post about the Midwest Baby Fest and their investigation by the Illinois Attorney General for consumer fraud. This post is an update to the situation.
I have been contacted by several vendors from Chicago, Sioux Falls and Minnesota about the pending investigation and allegations against them for cancelling shows and not issuing refunds to the vendors. They have also been accused of writing in excess of $10,000 in bad checks. I have not heard one good word from any of the vendors and it appears there is a “witch hunt” going on.
There are always 2 sides to the story. In this case, there seems to be about 50 sides to the story. The only side I can be sure of, is mine. In short, as a confirmed vendor for their Chicago show, I was neither informed about the cancellation nor had I received a refund. As of today, “I did receive a full refund”. Although I did receive my refund, it does not hold them harmless for their lack of responsibility in handling this situation properly and professionally. I still hold strong to my prior statements of not being able to reach management, never being told the show was cancelled and being out more than just my booth fee. But this is neither here no there. The bottom line is that I did receive a refund.
For the sake of not making their burden any heavier, I received my refund and contacted the Illinois Attorney General to make them aware of the refund issuance. I also removed my original post in hopes that they can somehow make their horrible situation better.
I wish you ladies the best of luck in dealing with all of this and I feel awful for you if you’re true intentions were good, but somehow went south. Whether that is the fact of the matter is between you and the attorney general.
