Bret Michaels…The New Celebrity Apprentice

Bret_MichaelsWalking with a slight limp and a smile from ear to ear, Bret Michaels made it to the season Finale of the Celebrity Apprentice and Won the Title “Celebrity Apprentice”…

I grew up in the 80’s with the sounds of the hair bands playing in all avenues.  Undoubtedly, Poison was one of my favorites.  I had my perception of what I thought a rock star was like.  However, after watching this season of Celebrity Apprentice, I may have changed my mind.  In the beginning of the season, I really didn’t think Bret Michaels would make it too far.  He was way to calm and nice.  Many of the contestants, including seasons past, have huge, often times, back-stabbing, vicious personalities.  This is a far cry from Bret Michael’s personality.  He’s really sweet, soft spoken and an all around nice guy.

After a couple of weeks, you changed my mind about you.  I started to think, perhaps, you would be around for a lot longer. Often times, because you stayed out of the drama and were never a target of frustration or anger from the project manager.  This could undoubtedly become a great strategy for future contestants;  Keep you mouth shut, do the task your pm assigns you and for the love of God, don’t back stab any of your team members.    Aside from that, Bret had some really great ideas; whether they were taken or not, they were always amusing and fun.  As a consumer, I appreciated this less stuffy approach.  You made brands fun, brought them to life and connected the human aspect of each of them.

Bret pushed every task to the absolute limit; giving each task a fun, rock star edge.  One would tend to think that stuffy nosed corporate types would not be endulged by having their brand do the “tour bus thrust”.  You more often than not, had the executive’s eyes popping out of their heads, all-the-while, engaging their funny bone.  They really embraced your out-of-the box creativity.  You definitely had me cracking up!

It was no surprise that Donald chose Bret and Holly Robinson Peete to be the finalists.  I love Holly too.  I grew up watching her on 21 Jump Street.

Going up against Holly, I had to say, I was a little nervous for Bret.  She is an amazing mom and woman.  Her strength comes from the love of her child.  As a mom, to know that power is to truly appreciate how it can motivate you. So, I was a bit scared for Bret going into the finale.   At the end though, I thought both developed amazing Snapple campaigns. Like Donald, I loved Holly’s collateral cover, but loved Bret’s inside piece.  I liked both commercials equally, but liked Holly’s label design a bit more.  I was really up in the air about who would win.  They both did an amazing job. Unfortunately, Holly’s fate was sealed when the show decided to enhance Bret’s chances by showing a clip of him embracing his daughter.  I do think this was a bit of a disadvantage for Holly.  They should have done the same for her.  It was at this point, that the producers showed me who they wanted the winner to be.  Apperantely they felt that Bret needed a little help because perhaps Holly was an unbeatable opponent.  Although I was rooting for Bret, all things were not created equal in the footage and honestly, I believe, Bret would have wanted it to be equal.

I would have to say that the show made up for the unbalance in the finale by giving both charities a $250,000 donation.  After all, that is what Holly really wanted and was fighting so hard for.  They truly both came out winners, but only one could be crowned the “Celebrity Apprentice” and that is truly Bret Michaels.

Congratulations Bret and Holly.  You are both amazing personalities and show the world that you can make a difference.  I wish you both happiness, success and good health.

Bret, keep on rocking and take the time you need to heal.  The world would lose it’s shine without you in it.  Take care of yourself!

And I could never end my post without giving a giant virtual hug and kiss out to the Trump family.  Donald Trump Sr, who blesses the world with his honesty, boldness and amazing hair; Ivanka, who inspires me as a business woman in a man’s world with her finesse, sense of humor and charisma; and Baby Donald, who is fair, amazingly intelligent and who showed even the most amazing intellects are human too.  I gotta say Baby Don you scored points with me when you forgot the exec’s name in one of the episodes.

Sounds to be like you’re a bit jealous Alejandro…..

  • Alejandro Munez:

This show sucks ass. Donald Trump is doing nothing more than enhancing his super-ego. It’s all about him all the time.

    Sherri -

I think you need to try out for the fall season of the Apprentice. I think you would be amazing at it. Love the post and totally agree with your take on the Bret push they gave last night.

I was actually rooting for Holly, so I’m really glad they gave the Holly Rod foundation $250,000.

I couldn’t agree more about the finale giving Bret a boost. But in a world where all things are not created equal, Bret has been through an amazing last few months, traveled against Dr. orders and proved he deserved to win.

I am very happy that the organization gave both charities the $250K. I have a new appreciation for Snapple and think I will try out their new drinks.

And really, your take on last nights events is way more fun to read than the NY Times version.

    Love your blog.

    Hank
